KIMBLEWORTH, a parish (formerly), in the western division of CHESTER ward, county palatine of DURHAM, 3 miles (N. by W.) from Durham, containing 32 inhabitants. The living, a rectory rated in the king's books at £3. 6. 8., and endowed with £200 royal bounty, was united, in 1593, to the perpetual curacy of Witton-Gilbert, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Dean and Chapter of Durham. The church has long since fallen to decay, and the place is now considered a liberty (extra-parochial).
