KNOWLE (ST-GILES), a parish in the southern
division of the hundred of PETHERTON, county of
SOMERSET; 2 miles (S.by W.) from Ilminster, containing
91 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in
the archdeaconry of Taunton, and diocese of Bath and
Wells, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and
£200 royal bounty, and in the peculiar jurisdiction
and patronage of the Prebendary of Cudworth in the
Cathedral Church of Wells.
