LACKINGTON (WHITE), a parish in the hundred of ABDICK-and-BULSTONE, county of SOMERSET, 1 mile (E. N. E.) from Ilminster, containing 242 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Taunton, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £7. 10., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Prebendary of White Lackington in the Cathedral Church of Wells. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, has two small transepts and an embattled western tower.
