LANGTON, a parish in the southern division of the wapentake of GARTREE, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 1 mile (W. by S.) from Horncastle, containing 100 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £7. 19. 4., endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Lincoln. The church is dedicated to St. Margaret.
