western division of the wapentake of STAINCLIFFE-and-EWCROSS,
West riding of the county of YORK, 4
miles (N. W. byW.) from Settle, containing 351 inhabitants.
Eldroth chapel, in this township, formerly a
chapel of ease, is now used as a school-room for teaching
poor children, for which-purpose there is an endowment
in land and money, producing about £ 13 a year.
