LINGFIELD, a parish in the first division of the hundred of TANDRIDGE, county of SURREY, 6 miles (S.S.E.) from Godstone, containing 1684 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Surrey, and diocese of Winchester, endowed with £1000 parliamentary grant. Robert Ladbrooke, Esq. was patron in 1819. The church is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul. Here is a place of worship for Baptists. A small sum is paid by the parish annually for the instruction of children.
