LOCKERLEY, a parish in the hundred of THORNGATE, Andover division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 6 miles (N.W.) from Romsey, containing 504 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, united to the rectory of Mottisfont, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester. The church is dedicated to St. John. There is a place of worship for Baptists. The Salisbury and Southampton canal passes through the parish. Sarah Rolle, in 1700, gave certain land, directing the income to be applied in clothing, maintaining, and educating all poor children of Lockerley, East Tytherley, Moundsmire, and Stebbington.
