LOFTSOME, a township, joint with Wressel, in the
parish of WRESSEL, Holme-Beacon division of the wapentake
of HARTHILL, East riding of the county of
YORK, 3 miles (W. N. W.) from Howden. The population
is returned with Wressel. This township lies near
the Derwent, over which is a wooden bridge, so constructed
as to admit the passage of vessels.
