LOWESBY, a parish in the eastern division of the hundred of GOSCOTE, county of LEICESTER, 9 miles (E. by N.) from Leicester, containing, with the chapelry of Cold Newton, 217 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £7.1. 5., endowed with £800 private benefaction, £600 "royal bounty, and £600 parliamentary grant. Sir F. G. Fowke, Bart, was patron in 1820. The church is dedicated to All Saints.
