LYNCOMB, a parish, joint with Widcomb, in the hundred of BATH-FORUM, county of SOMERSET, adj'acent to the city of Bath, containing 5880 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, annexed to the rectory of St. Peter and St. Paul, Bath, in the archdeaconry of Bath, and diocese of Bath and Wells, and in the patronage of the Corporation of Bath. The parish is separated from the city of Bath by the river Avon, and the Rennet and Avon canal passes through it; the hills in the neighbourhood are very productive of freestone. There is an hospital for idiots, dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene, with a chapel annexed, which latter has been partly rebuilt by subscription.
