MANEWDEN, a parish in the hundred of CLAVERING, county of ESSEX, Similes (N.W.) from Stanstead- Mountfitchet, containing 656 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Colchester, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £ 14. The Rev. H. Marsh and others were patrons in 1803. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. A fair is held here on Easter-Monday.
