MAPERTON, a parish in the hundred of CATSASH,
county of SOMERSET, 3 miles (S. W. by W.) from Wincanton,
containing, with the hamlet of Clapton, 165
inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry
of Wells, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in
the king's books at £ 13. 9. 7', and in the patronage of
the Warden and Fellows of Wadham College, Oxford.
The church is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul.
