MAPLE-DURHAM, a parish in the hundred of LANGTREE, county of OXFORD, 4 miles (N.W. by N.) from Reading, containing 508 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford, rated in the king's books at £ 12. 10., and in the patronage of the Provost and Fellows of Eton College. The church, dedicated to St. Margaret, has been the burial-place of the ancient family of Blount for many generations. An almshouse for six poor people, each of whom receives one shilling and sixpence weekly, is supported by Michael Blount, Esq.
