MARSHFIELD, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of WENTLLOOG, county of MONMOUTH, 5 miles (S.W.) from Newport, containing 483 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Llandaff, rated in the king's books at £6. 2. 6., endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Bristol. The church is a large and handsome structure in the later English style; in the chancel are several stone stalls.
