MARTIN, a parish in the southern division of the
wapentake of GARTREE, parts of LINDSEY, county of
LINCOLN, 2 miles (S.W. by S.) from Horncastle, containing
55 inhabitants. The living is a discharged reetory,
in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated
in the king's books at £6. 4. 2., endowed with £400
royal bounty, and in the patronage of John Oldham
and -. Slater, Esqrs. The church is dedicated to St.
Michael. The Horncastle canal passes through the
parish.
