MARTIN (ST.), a parish in WEST hundred, county of CORNWALL, 1 mile (N.) from East Looe, containing, with the borough of East Looe, 1181 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Cornwall, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £36. 2. 3., and in the patronage of the Dowager CouDtess of Sandwich and Viscount Barnard. There is a place' of "worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The parish is bounded on the west by Looe harbour, and on the south by the English channel. Here was formerly a nunnery.
