MARTLESHAM, a parish in the hundred of CARLFORD, county of SUFFOLK, 2 miles (S. by W.) from Woodbridge, containing 413 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £10. 18. 9. Mrs. Goodwin was patroness in 1798. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The navigable-river Deben forms the eastern boundary of the parish.
