MELLOR, a chapelry in the parish, and lower division
of the hundred, of BLACKBURN, county palatine
of LANCASTER, 2 miles (N. W.) from Blackburn, containing
1981 inhabitants. On Mellor moor are the remains
of a Roman encampment.
