MENHENIOT, a parish in the middle division of EAST hundred, county of CORNWALL, 2 miles (E.S.E.) from Liskeard, containing 1170 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Cornwall, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £21. 15. 5., and in the patronage of the Rector and,. Fellows of Exeter College, Oxford, on the nomination of the Dean and Chapter of Exeter. The church is dedicated to St. Neot. A school for the instruction of poor children was endowed with the interest of £42, by the Rev. Augustus Question, about 1753; with the interestof £25 by Mr. Snell; to which the Rev. William Holwell Carr, the present vicar, adds £20 per annum for the master's salary. Fairs for cattle and sheep are held April 23rd, June 11th, and July 28th. Within the parish, and near the town of Liskeard, was anciently an hospital for lepers, dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. The scenery of this district is beautifully diversified with rock and wood. William of Wykham was vicar of this parish.
