MESHAW, a parish in the hundred of WITHERIDGE, county of DEVON, 5 miles (S. E. by S.) from South Molton, containing 163 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Barnstaple, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £7. 4., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty. G. H. Wollaston, Esq. was patron in 1777. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
