METHWOLD, a parish hi the hundred of GRIMSHOE, county of NORFOLK, 4 miles (S. S. B.) from Stoke- Ferry, containing 1164 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, annexed to the rectory of Cranwick, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £9. 1.3. The church, dedicated to St. George, is a handsome structure with an embattled tower. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Here was formerly a market, and a fair is still held on the 23rd of April. In the neighbourhood is a celebrated warren, which formerly contained a great number of rabbits, the fur of which was in considerable repute.
