E.) from Bawtry, containing 720 inhabitants/ The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and diocese of York, rated in the-king's books at £6. 4. 4., and in the patronage of the Crown, There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. A free school, erected, here in 1693, by Thomas Mowbray and John Pinder, is endowed with land, &c., now producing an annual income of about £ 65, for teaching poor children.
