MUMBY, a parish in the Marsh division of the
hundred of CALCEWORTH, parts of LINDSEY, county
of LINCOLN, 4 miles (E. S. E.) from Alford, containing,
with Chapel-Mumby, 582 inhabitants. The living is
a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese
of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £9 12. 3., endowed
with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage
of the Bishop of Lincoln. The church is dedicated to
St. Peter.
