NAILSEA, a parish in the hundred of PORTBURY, county of SOMERSET, 8 miles (N. by W.) from Bristol, containing 1678 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Bath, and diocese of Bath and Wells, and in the patronage of Adam Gordon, Esq. The church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. In this parish are extensive coal-works, and a manufactory for crown glass upon a very large scale, which together give employment to a great portion of the inhabitants.
