NEWBOLD-VERDON, a parish in the hundred of
SPARKENHOE, county of LEICESTER, 2 miles (E. by N.)
from Market-Bosworth, containing 576 inhabitants.
The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Leicester,
and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books
at £6. 8. 11. G. Greenaway, Esq. was patron in
1823. The church is dedicated to St. James. Nathaniel,
Lord Crewe, in 1720, bequeathed a rent-charge
of £20, for teaching poor children.
