NEWBOURN, a parish in the hundred of CARLFORD, county of SUFFOLK, 4 miles (S. by E.) from Woodbridge, containing 181 inhabitants. The living .is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £7. 4. 2., endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Sir W. Rowley, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The navigable river Deben runs on the east of this parish.
