NORTHORPE, a parish in the wapentake of CORRINGHAM, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 8 miles (N.E.) from Gainsborough, containing 127 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Stow, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £4, endowed with £400 Bank annuities and £119 private benefaction, and £800 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Lincoln. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. The river Eau runs through the parish and falls into the Trent.
