NUNEHAM-COURTNEY, a parish in the hundred of BULLINGTON, county of OXFORD, 6 miles (S. S. E.) from Oxford, containing 312 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese .of Oxford, rated in the king's books at.£15. 6. 0., and in the patronage of the Archbishop of York. The church, dedicated to All Saints, is an elegant building of the Ionic order, erected in 1764, at the expense of Simon, Earl of Harcourt. The parish is bounded on the west by the river Isis. Nuneham gives the inferior title of viscount to the Earl of Harcourt, who has a splendid mansion and park here.
