OAKE, a parish in the hundred of TAUNTON-and-TAUNTON-DEAN, county of SOMERSET, 5 miles (W.) from Taunton, containing 189 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Taunton, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £11. 0. 5., and in the patronage of the Rev. Bowse Ford. The church is dedicated to St. Bartholomew. Six poor children are educated for a -trifling rent-charge, the gift of the Rev. Francis Prowde.
