OARE, a parish in the hundred of CARHAMPTON,
county of SOMERSET, 12 miles (W.) from Minehead,
containing 66 inhabitants. The living is a discharged
rectory, in the archdeaconry of Taunton, and diocese
of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at
£4. 17. 6., endowed with £400 private benefaction,
£400 royal bounty, and £300 parliamentary grant.
Mrs. Oliver and others were patrons in 1809. The
church is dedicated to St. Mary.
