OFFLEY (HIGH), a parish in the northern division of the hundred of PIREHILL, county of STAFFORD, comprising the townships of Loynfon and High Offley, and containing 609 inhabitants, of which number, 569 are in the township of High Offley, 4 miles (S. W.) from Eccleshall. The living is a vicarage, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Prebendary of Offley and Flixton in the Cathedral Church of Lichfield, rated in the king's books at £ 6. 6. Of., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Lichfield and Coventry. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The Birmingham and Liverpool canal passes through the parish.
