ONE-HOUSE, a parish in the hundred of STOW,
county of SUFFOLK, 2 miles (w.) from Stow-Market,
containing 185 inhabitants, exclusively of the house of
industry for the .hundred of Stow, which is in this parish,
and contains 235 inmates. The living is a rectory,
in the archdeaconry of Sudbury, and diocese of Norwich,
rated in the king's books at £7.2. 6, and in the patronage
of R. Pettiward, Esq. The church is dedicated to
St. John the Baptist. Two streams, which run through
the parish, are formed into ornamental pieces of water
below the park. There is also a mineral spring. The
chapel of Stow and the Hundred-House are situated within
this parish.
