OSWALDTWISTLE, a township in that part of the
parish of WHALLEY which is in the lower division of
the hundred of BLACKBURN, county palatine of LANCASTER,
3 miles (E. by S.) from Blackburn, containing
4960 inhabitants. Here are print-works on a large
scale, and other establishments for the manufacture of
cotton goods. Coal is obtained in the township.
