OVING, a parish in the hundred of Box-and-STOCKBRIDGE, rape of CHICHESTER, county of SUSSEX, 2 miles (E.) from Chichester, containing 637 inhabitants. . The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £10. 11. 10., and in the patronage of the Precentor in the Cathedral Church of Chichester. The chnrch is principally in the early style of English architecture. Stephen Challen, in 1731, left a small sum for teaching poor children.
