PASTON, a township in the parish of KIRK-NEWTON,
western division of GLENDALE ward, county of
NORTHUMBERLAND, 9 miles (W.N. W.) from Wooler,
containing 209 inhabitants. It is bounded on the
north by the Beaumont river, and about a mile to
the southward of the village is Pawston Tarn, a large
lake of a circular form.
