PEASMARSH, a parish in the hundred of GOLDSPUR, rape of HASTINGS, county of SUSSEX, 3 miles (N. W. by W.) from Rye, containing 913 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Lewes, and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £5. 9. 2., and in the patronage of the Master and Fellows of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. The church, dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul, is in the early style of English architecture. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
