PENTLOW, a parish in the hundred of HINCKFORD,
county of ESSEX, 2 miles (E. by N.) from Clare, containing
310 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the
jurisdiction of the Commissary of Essex and Herts, con-
currently with the Consistorial Court of the Bishop of
London, rated in the king's books at £12. The Rev,
John Bull was patron in 1816. The church is dedicated
to St. George.
