PENTONVILLE, a chapelry in the parish of ST-JAMES-CLERKENWELL, Finsbury division of the hundred of OSSULSTONE, county of MIDDLESEX. The population is returned with the parish. The chapel, a neat edifice, was erected in 1791, since which period a considerable number of streets has been formed, and it now constitutes one of the most populous and respectable suburbs of the metropolis; a further description of which is given in the article on CLERKENWELL.
