PIDDINGHOE, a parish in the hundred of HOLMSTROW, rape of LEWES, county of SUSSEX, 5 miles (S. byE.J from Lewes, containing 251 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Lewes, and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £7. 14. 2. Thomas Crewe, and J. Philpot, Esqrs., were patrons in 1825. The church, which is principally of flint, with a circular tower, is in the early style of English architecture. The parish is bounded on the east by the Ouse, or Lewes river, and on the south by the English channel.
