PINCHBECK, a parish in the wapentake of ELLOE, parts of HOLLAND, county of LINCOLN, 2 miles (N. by W.) from Spalding, containing 2099 inhabitants. Fourteen children are instructed for a trifling rent-charge, bequeathed by James Rawlett, aided by the gifts of other charitable persons, whose names are unknown. In the garden of the mansion-house, which is an ancient moated building, was found, in 1742, a large commodus of brass; on the reverse, a female sitting on a globe, the right hand extended, and in the left a victory; several pipes of baked earth were also met with in 1743.
