PLAINMELLOR, a township in the parish of HALTWHISTLE,
western division of TINDALE ward, county of
NORTHUMBERLAND, 3 miles (S. by E.) from Haltwhistle,
containing 184 inhabitants. It is so named
from a mountain within its limits, and is bounded on
the north by the South Tyne, across which there is
a wooden bridge.
