PRIVETT, a parish in the hundred of FAWLEY, Fawley division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 5 miles (N. W. by W.) from Petersfield, containing 229 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the rectory of West Meon, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Incumbent. This parish is within the jurisdiction of an ancient court, called the Cheyney Court, held at Winchester every Thursday, for the recovery of debts to any amount.
