QUARRINGTON, a township in the parish of KELLOE,
southern division of EASINGTON ward, county palatine
of DURHAM, 4 miles (S. E.) from Durham, containing
177 inhabitants. It was anciently the chief
town of a district called Queringdonshire. There are
two collieries in the neighbourhood.
