RAUGHTON-HEAD, a chapelry in the parish of CASTLE-SOWERBY, LEATH ward, county of CUMBERLAND, 7 miles (S. by W.) from Carlisle. The popular tion is returned with the parish. The living is a perpe- tual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Carlisle, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £600 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Vicar of Castle- Sowerby and twelve Trustees. The chapel was rebuilt in 1678, and enlarged in 1760. A school-house was erected, .in 1744, by John Headland rebuilt in 1806, but it is not endowed.
