RODMERSHAM, a parish in the hundred of MILTON, lathe of SCRAY, county of KENT, 2 miles (S. E. by S.) from Sittingbourne, containing 307 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, rated in the king's books at £8. 6. 8., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage ofWm. Lushington, Esq. The church, dedicated to St. Nicholas, is in the early style of English architecture, and has in the chancel four elegant canopied stalls, thought to have been intended for the knights of St. John of Jerusalem, to whom the church belonged, when they came to visit their estate.
