ROOTHING (HIGH), a parish in the hundred of
DUNMOW, county of ESSEX, 4 miles (S. "W. by S.) from
Great Dunmow, containing 388 inhabitants. The living
is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Middlesex, and
diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £ 20,
and in the patronage of Lord Rodney. The church is
dedicated to All Saints.
