RUISHTON, a parish in the hundred of TAUNTON-and-TAUNTON-DEAN, county of SOMERSET, 2 miles (E.) from Taunton, containing 329 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Taunton, and diocese of Bath and Wells, endowed with £250 private benefaction, and £400 royal bounty. John Guy, Esq. was patron in 1800. The church is dedicated to St. George. The navigable river Tone passes on the northern side of the village. Nine poor children are educated for about £4 per annum, arising from £ 100, the gift of Elizabeth Strong, in 1742.
