SALTBY, a parish in the hundred of FRAMLAND,
county of LEICESTER, 8 miles (N. B.) from Melton-
Mowbray, containing 234 inhabitants. The living is a
discharged vicarage, consolidated with that of Sproxton,
in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln,
rated in the king's books at £7. The church is dedicated
to St. Peter. The small river Eye has its source
in this parish.
