SANDHURST, a parish in the hundred of SELBRITTENDEN, lathe of SCRAY, county of KENT, 7 miles (S. W. by W.) from Tenter den, containing 1182 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, rated in the king's books at £20, and in the patronage of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church, dedicated to St. Nicholas, is principally in the later style of English architecture. There are places of worship for Baptists and Wesleyan Methodists. A National school has been recently established. A fair for cattle and pedlary is held on May 25th. The river Kennet separates this extensive parish from the county of Sussex.
