SANDRIDGE, a parish in the hundred of CASHIO, or liberty of ST-ALBANS, county of HERTFORD, 2 miles (N. E.) from St. Albans, containing 823 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of St. Albans, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £8, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Earl Spencer. The church is dedicated to St. Leonard. A National school was erected by subscription in 1824, on ground given by Earl Spencer, and is supported by voluntary contributions.
